We're now rolling out the next major version of our flagship webmail app, WebMail Pro PHP. The new version provides a host of new features and, more importantly, internally the product has been rewritten from the ground up. Now it is based on what we call Aurora Platform architecture: the product includes Framework (the core) and a set of certain modules which constitute the functionality of WebMail Pro.
The modular architecture of v8 has some important enhancements as compared to the previous version. Just to name a few:
- Ease of customization.
- Persistence of customizations (and protection of your investments in them) between version upgrades.
- Ability to add or remove modules easily.
- No need to change database structure when you want to add more properties to objects or add new objects (so-called EAV model of data storage).
On a side note: WebMail Pro now has Notes. They are implemented the same way as on iOS mail client, as a Notes folder on IMAP server.
And we finally support Tasks in Calendar! That was one of the most anticipated features for a long time.
Another interesting new feature is Paranoid Encryption in Files module. Users can now utilize purely browser-based AES-256 encryption for files they keep in the their storage. All the encryption keys are stored only locally on the client device, the files' contents is encrypted/decrypted directly in the browser. This way even the server itself has no access to unencrypted content of the protected files. Users can now keep their private files without needing to trust the server or the channel between them and the server.
This version needs a license key upgrade, the keys now start with AU80 string. Please contact us at https://s.afterlogic.com/helpdesk/ to request your new key.
In case if your maintenance contract has already expired, you'll need to renew it first. This can be done at https://afterlogic.com/maintenance-renewal (or just drop us a message).
